Fremont Micro Devices USA Inc. today announced the FT83X Family of high performance AC/DC power supply controllers for off line, low power applications including battery charges and adaptors for cell / cordless phones, PDA’s, MP-3, Set Top Boxes and auxiliary power supplies.

“These primary side controllers significantly simplify power supply design that requires CV and CC regulation capabilities. They control the output voltage and current precisely with the information in the primary side of the power supply, not only removing the output current sensing loss, but eliminating all secondary feedback circuitry.” Said Alex Woo, President of Fremont Micro Devices USA. “Each of the four devices in the Family has been optimized to enable specific applications.” He added.

The AC/DC Primary Side Regulators enable Switching Mode Power Supply Battery Charger application with specific features:

The FT83X Family of Integrated Circuits operate as a primary side sensing regulator and consequently designs using this Family of IC’s do not require an opto coupler or TL431 Shunt regulator reducing board space and system cost. In only 8 years since the Company was founded, Fremont Micro Devices has become a world leader in the design and delivery of Non-Volatile Memory solutions in density of 2K-bit to 1024K-bit. “The rapid growth in cumulative unit volume shipments is a result of low cost manufacturing, efficient test suites and a close working relationship with customers and vendors.” said, Kelvin Hui, Chief Executive Officer. “We recently expanded our sales channel in Europe and North America to improve our capability to win designs at high volume consumer, computer and communication accounts.
